Marquette Redettes Varsity Basketball(34) VS Menominee Maroons(32) on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9FM
- Updated: February 23, 2017

Marquette, MI – February 23rd, 2017 – After a blowout from the Marquette Redettes jv basketball team over the Menominee Maroons, the varsity team was faced with a much more difficult challenge. Menominee was the first team to score, but Marquette answered quickly. Soon after however, the Maroons went on a 6-0 scoring run, retaking the lead. Just before the first quarter ended, Marquette broke their scoring streak.
First Quarter Score
Marquette Redettes: 4
Menominee Maroons: 8
After a tough first quarter, the Marquette Redettes looked to bounce back against the Maroons. Once again, Menominee was the first team to score, but this time, it was Marquette that went on a scoring run early in the quarter. Amber Hubner pulled through for the Redettes with four points on layups, and that allowed them to nearly even the score at 12. Menominee wasn’t giving up, and their coach could be heard shouting encouragement to his players from the sideline. As the first half approached it’s close, the Maroons found themselves on top of Marquette by only two points.
First Quarter Score
Marquette Redettes: 17
Menominee Maroons: 20
Only trailing by a single score, the Marquette Redettes had to hold on for just two more quarters as the second half started. The Redettes were having some difficulty on offense, and more than once, they had passes intercepted by a Menominee player. Fouls for Marquette were very low, and neither team was in danger of putting the other team in the bonus, meaning it would be a quick finish to the game. Still trailing as the third quarter passes the one-minute mark, it looked as though the game would all come down to the fourth.
First Quarter Score
Marquette Redettes: 28
Menominee Maroons: 29
Behind by a single point, the game was still within reach for the Marquette Redettes going into the fourth. They were able to tie the score at 32-32 just two minutes into the last quarter, and the action in the gym began to heat-up. Marquette got their first lead of the game at 4:30 left to play, sending a noticeable spark through their bench. The action was red-hot as the game approached it’s close, and it was still 34-32 with about a minute left to play.
First Quarter Score
Marquette Redettes: 34
Menominee Maroons: 32
