Marquette, MI – September 23rd, 2025 – Yesterday, Charlye Swajanen announced that she will continue her athletic career at Ferris State University. Swajanen is an outstanding softball player from the Marquette Sentinels. She just started her junior year at Marquette, so the Bulldogs will have to wait another two years before she joins their team.
Last season, Swajanen played a crucial role in the success of the Sentinels. Here are some of her impressive stats from last season: batting average of .487, getting a hit almost half of her at bats. She tallied 55 hits, including two home runs, and drove in 37 runners. In addition to her offensive prowess, Swajanen also excels as a pitcher, recording 127 strikeouts last season.
The Sentinels softball team had a decent season overall, finishing with a 21-18 record, but struggled in the Great Northern U.P. Conference with a 3-13 record. Swajanen has the unique opportunity to be coached by her father, Derek. As a Junior, she aims to continue improving her game and hopes to win a championship with Marquette before heading off to college.
