The Ishpeming Lady Hematites finished the regular season with an impressive record of 17-3, with an even better 11-1 MPC Record!

MARQUETTE, MI – 3/2/2015 – Well we have a new champion for the girl’s MPC.   Congratulations to the Ishpeming Lady Hematites on a great season!  A season that saw them go 11-1 in conference and only lose two other games, both to Gladstone.  However, all teams are 0-0 right now, and everybody has a chance to claim a district title and possibly a regional one too.  Playoffs are starting, and the MPC will be featured in Districts 94 & 95.  District 94 consists of Manistique, Negaunee, Gwinn, and Ishpeming.  Meanwhile, in Westwood, the Mountaineers, Patriots, and Knights will be joined by the Wykons of West Iron County.  It’s going to be a fun week here as girl’s basketball kicks it into high gear!  For a full look at the ABC Playoff match-ups, click here! For the boys, there’s just one week left of their regular season.  There’s still the matter of figuring out who will be the MPC regular season champion.  While there is a chance that they could split as champions, it’s looking like all eyes will be on Negaunee Memorial Gymnasium for the de facto MPC Championship as the Mountaineers of Iron Mountain look to claim sole possession of the title with a win over the Negaunee Miners, who have won the title four years running. Without further adieu, let’s take a look at this week’s slate of games.
