Marquette, MI – January 31st, 2017 – The Marquette Redmen faced off against the Westwood Patriots on a pleasant, snowy January night. The action would be anything but nice, however, as these two powerhouse teams faced off. The Redmen were trailing early, but they tied the game at 4-4 with the first few minutes gone from the clock. With 3:30 left in the first, the Redmen went on a seven point scoring run, and that allowed them to move into the lead. Marquette stayed ahead of the Patriots as the first quarter wound down, and they would move into the second with a major advantage.First Quarter Score

It was all the Marquette Redmen as they took on the Westwood Patriots, and they continued to dominate as the second quarter started. The action started to get a lot more physical as the Redmen dominated Westwood, but Marquette didn’t let that get in their way. They held a more than twenty point lead with just three minutes left in the half. The points didn’t stop falling for Marquette, and their lead continued to build as the teams prepared for halftime.

Coming out of the locker rooms, it the Marquette Redmen were ready to finish off their game against the Westwood Patriots. Basket after basket was falling for the Redmen, and it seemed like Westwood would continue to struggle in the second half. Despite some great play from Marquette, the Patriots held the lead down to 26 points for much of the third quarter, giving the impression that halftime may have given them the boost they needed. However, by the end of the third, Marquette stretched their lead back out to 30 points.

Fouls were a huge problem for the Westwood Patriots, as they trailed the Marquette Redmen by 30 points starting the final quarter. The action slowed a bit in the fourth as Marquette rested their starters and got their bench some work on the court. Westwood continued to have an awful time with fouls, and they put Marquette again into the double bonus. In an astonishing feat, every single Marquette player scored at least one point in the game, and that helped them take home a convincing win.
