It was a good start to the game for the Marquette Redmen, and they continued their excellent play from the first when they extended their lead to six points in the first minute of the second quarter. Ian Ogea was laying down the points for Marquette, and his hot streak caused the Maroons to take an unexpected timeout midway through the quarter. Ian drained his third three pointer of the game with two minutes to go, and that just put Marquette further in front of the Maroons. It was 27-14 late in the first half, however, fouls started to become a problem for Marquette, with multiple players close to being in trouble.

Coming out of halftime, it was still the Marquette Redmen‘s game, but the Maroons weren’t giving up. Only holding a 11 point lead, the Redmen’s game was far from over. After halftime, the Maroons looked to be trying some different plays, but they were still unable to overtake Marquette. As minute after minute ticked off the clock, Marquette maintained their lead at 17 points. By the time the third quarter buzzer sounded, the Menominee Maroons would have some serious ground to make up in the fourth.

With only one quarter left to play, it looked like the Marquette Redmen would take home the win. The Maroons whittled down the Redmen’s lead to only 13 points early in the fourth, but Marquette quickly put a stop to their comeback. As the final minutes fell off the clock, the Redmen could feel the conference championships within their grasp. By the time the final buzzer sounded, the Marquette Redmen held a 25 point lead.
