Marquette Redmen Hockey Team Falls To The Muskegan Mona Shores Sailors 4-1 In The Regional Championship
- Updated: March 4, 2017

Gaylord, MI- March 4th, 2017- This was not the start the Marquette Redmen hockey team wanted as they were riding a nice winning streak into this one. Right from the start the Muskegan Mona Shores Sailors got all over the Redmen adding 2 goals in the first minute. From then the Sailors would continue to roll as they would add one more to their lead within a five minute span. Marquette was able to add a big goal before the period’s end to get some momentum heading into the break.
First Period Score:
Marquette- 1
Muskegan- 3
The intermission and that goal the Redmen got before break really seemed to help Marquette gather themselves for the second period. The Redmen would carry the play for much of the period, leading in every stat category possible. Their only problem was they couldn’t get any pucks to the back of the net as the Sailors did a very nice job of getting in the shooting lanes and blocking shots. The Redmen headed to the locker room with more momentum and hoping to bring it into the third period.
Second Period Score:
Marquette- 1
Muskegan- 3
Well the Marquette Redmen would dig themselves a bigger hole to start the third. They came out of the break hoping to carry their good play into the period but it was Muskegan Mona Shores to strike early scoring a goal in the first minute off of a re-direct. Marquette would draw a much needed penalty to give themselves a power play getting a few great scoring chances but still were unable to cash in. After the first minute of this game the Redmen would outplay the Sailors and beat them in every category but the most important one. Marquette would give everything they had in those one but their great season would come to and end as they fall in this one.
Final Score:
Marquette- 1
Muskegan- 4
