Marquette, MI- April 15th, 2017- The Marquette Redette softball team looked to put together a winning streak to start their season as they had an 8-0 victory over the Gladstone Braves Friday night. It wouldn’t be an easy task taking on the Rapid River Rockets. Luckily for the Redettes, they looked like they were in mid-season form Friday night. Chelsea Wiggins had a a no-hitter the night before and would take the circle again tonight. The offense was firing on all cylinders, they were able to knock in 8 runs and swipe 5 bags on the base paths.

Wiggins streak of allowing no hits would end quickly in this one. She would strike out the first two batters before allowing the first hit of the season. She would still be dominant through her first two innings, striking out six and allowing no runs, and one hit. The offense wouldn’t start as hot as they did Friday as they could not scrape together a hit in the first two innings. The only base runners they had were an error, and a walk.

Hannah Bulinski would get the first hit of the game for the Redettes and she would swipe second base on the very next pitch. Nothing would come of the 2 out hit when the next batter grounded out to first base. It took four innings for any team to score. Wiggins would get a base hit with no outs. Then Stasha Warchuck would sacrifice and allow Wiggins to be aggressive on the bases as a throwing error would allow Wiggins to score the only run of the game.
