Redmen Lose 58-55 in Intense Battle to Trojans in Traverse City

Marquette, MI – December 14, 2018 – The Marquette Redmen Varsity Boys basketball team lost 58-55 in what ended up an intense battle against the Traverse City Central Trojans on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
It was a dominant first quarter for the TC Central Trojans.
Marius Grazulis came out with the early basket in the first seconds of the first quarter. The Trojans answered and it was tied at 2-2 for a spell. TC Central pulled away, however, and it was 12-4 at the buzzer.
The second quarter saw TC Central gaining more ground. The Redmen struggled to catch up to a double-digit Trojan lead and it was 29-15 at the half.
The Redmen ramped up their intensity, coming within just two possessions of the Trojans several times in the second half.
At the top of the third quarter, Marquette slashed their deficit to 10 points following a Raffy Millado basket.
At this point the score was 31-21 with Millado and Grazulis at 10 points apiece, and responsible for 20 of Marquette’s 23 points together.
The Trojans would not go away, however, and every time Marquette got within 10 points, TC Central would take it away.
It was an Ethan Martysz basket at the third quarter buzzer that got the Redmen within nine points for the first time since the first quarter.
Millado came out with an early lay up in the fourth to continue to hack at the TC Central lead. Later, a Bryce Brazeau bucket helped Marquette get to within 5 points of the Trojans.
But it just wasn’t enough.
Marquette fought tooth and nail until the bitter end, but the Trojans went home with the 58-55 victory.
Raffy Millado had a huge scoring game with 21 points total. Grazulis had 19, Brazeau had 10, and Martysz had 9 points for the game.
The Marquette Redmen Boys Basketball team will be at Traverse City West tomorrow, Saturday, December 15th at 3:00pm on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
