Marquette, MI – December 14, 2018 – The Marquette Redettes Varsity basketball team blew past the Traverse City Central Trojans with a 56-25 win on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
A determined Redettes team kept within two points of the Trojans in the opening quarter.
The Redettes transitioned from determined to downright dominant in the second. Marquette tied it up right out of the gate at 9-9.
It didn’t take long for the Redettes to pull out front at 14-9 over the Trojans. The half ended with a commanding 26-13 Marquette lead.
Aspen Michelin and Avery Ledy led the Redettes in scoring, with 11 points and 6 points respectively, at the half.
The Redettes kept a firm grip on their lead in the third quarter. The Trojans improved their side of the scoreboard to 17, but struggled to make anything else happen.
Marquette stayed strong on defense and unstoppable on offense for a score of 39-17 at the buzzer.
If the Redettes 56-25 victory wasn’t guaranteed at the end of the third, the top of the fourth definitely sealed the deal. The Trojans could not effectively crack the Redettes’ defense, and Marquette’s scoring was oppressive.
The top scorers for Marquette were Madison Carter with a game high of 16 points, Aspen Michelin with 13 points, Sydney Kivi with 8 points, Avery Ledy with 7 points, and birthday girl Sophie Bartlett with 6 points.
The Marquette Redettes Varsity basketball team will be at Traverse City West tomorrow, Saturday, December 15th at 1:30 pm on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
