Redettes Take Down TC West Titans, 51-40

Marquette, MI – December 15, 2018 – The Marquette Redettes Basketball team pulled off a 51-40 win against the Traverse City West Titans on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
The Redettes came off of a blistering win against the Traverse City Central Trojans just last night. This afternoon’s victory was not quite as dominant, but Marquette stayed firmly in control throughout the game.
Avery Ledy and the Redettes got the ball rolling as Marquette shocked TC West with an early 5-0 lead at the top of the first quarter. In fact, the following three points from the Titans were strictly off of free throws.
TC West finally got their offensive footing, but the Redettes held on to a one point lead with 8-7 at the buzzer.
The second quarter began with a dominant offensive run from Marquette. After an Aspen Michelin three-pointer a few minutes in, the Redettes led 16-9.
A Marquette surge followed by a TC West comeback seemed to be a pattern through the first half.
The Titans pulled ahead of the Redettes for the first and only time during the game at 21-20, but Marquette tied it up at 21-21 going into the half.
The Redettes came out of the break with an early 6-0 scoring run. The Titans were able to bounce back again, and the score was 31-28 at the buzzer.
Another early run, including a three-pointer from Avery Ledy, brought the Redettes’ lead to six points at the top of the fourth. Madison Carter followed in short order with two points to improve to 38-30.
Not for lack of effort, the Titans could not put a stop to the Redettes’ offensive onslaught.
TC West got within seven points at 44-37 toward the end of the game, but the Marquette victory was never truly in jeopardy.
The Marquette Redettes will be at Kingsford against the Flivvers on Thursday, December 20th on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9. Pregame starts at 7:15 pm and tip off is at 7:45pm.
