Redmen Basketball Flattens Gaylord Blue Devils 77-42
- Updated: February 29, 2020

Gaylord, MI – February 29, 2020 – The Marquette Redmen Varsity Basketball team steamrolled the Gaylord Blue Devils today with a 77-42 victory on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9.
The Redmen were off to the races early in the first quarter. A Ty Lotterman triple rounded out a quick 5-0 run to get things started. The Blue Devils responded, but the Redmen quickly surged forward with an 8-3 lead. A Kam Karp triple later rounded out a little scoring run to give the Redmen an 11-point 16-5 lead with just a few minutes gone in the opening period.
Another Redmen scoring run followed, Lotterman’s scoring stats already in double digits. Marquette took a score of 26-9 over the Blue Devils going into the second period.
Another 5-0 Redmen run started the second as Gaylord struggled to get anything going. A Collin Hicks triple opened up a whopping 23-point lead, the score 36-13.

The Blue Devils were no match for the Redmen.
The Redmen stayed out front by about 20 points or more for the rest of the half. It’s no question Marquette was firing on all cylinders as they took a 46-22 lead going into the half.
Another Lotterman triple opened the second half. Karp rounded out a 5-0 run with a layup to make it 51-22 in the early going of the third period.
Marquette remained dominant in much the same way they did in the first half, still leading by around 20 points or more throughout. The scoring, however, was more even as the Blue Devils put up 17 points to Marquette’s 18. It was too little too late though as the Redmen surged to a 27-point lead in the final 60 seconds of the period. The score settled at 64-39 going into the final period.
An Isaac Johnson double opened the fourth quarter. Robert Apple followed up with a triple to make it 69-39 early. A Blue Devils triple followed, but Collin Hicks answered with three points of his own to give the Redmen a 30-point lead once again.
A Truman Langlois layup gave the Redmen a 75-42 lead, more than 30 points on top of Gaylord. He followed up with another double to put an exclamation point on today’s win. Marquette made quick work of today’s 77-42 victory, taking some momentum into District Tournament play in just over a week.
