Redettes Get Win, Wolverines Dominate And Red Wings Back On The Ice

Marquette, MI – 1/3/18 – The Marquette Senior High School girls basketball team defeated the Gwinn Modeltowners last night 51-32 in Marquette. The Redettes move to 8-0 on the year with the victory. Marquette was led by Mo Miller who had 17 points followed up by Sydney Kivi with 12 and Claudia Hale with 10. Marquette now looks to take on another undefeated team on Monday when they take on the Negaunee Miners at Lakeview Arena in Negaunee.

The Michigan Wolverines defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 75-68 on Tuesday night in Iowa. The Wolverines were led by Zavier Simpson and Muhammad-Ali-Abdur-Rahkman who both had 15 points. Kentucky transfer Charles Matthews added 14 and the Wolverines won for the first time in Iowa City since 2011. The Wolverines were solid from downtown going on a 19-4 run in the first hal thanks to 11 three pointers and a total of 11 of 25 for the game. The Hawkeyes were led by Tyler Cook who added 28. The Wolverines will be back in action on Saturday against Illinois.

The Detroit Red Wings will be back on the ice tonight taking on the Ottawa Senators at 7:30 pm. The Red Wings have won three straight games at home and are currently 15-16-7, out of the playoff picture. Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha will be returning from a groin injury. The Senators are in the midst of a struggle losing their past four games for a final record of 4-15-3 in December.
