
Marquette, MI – 10/9/17 – The Michigan Wolverines welcomed in the Michigan State Spartans to the Big House on Saturday night under the lights. Michigan came into the game ranked #7 in the country and the number on defense. The Wolverines struggled on offense turning the ball over 5 times, 3 interceptions and two fumbles. Michigan State jumped out to an early 14-3 lead. The second half was the story of Michigan’s defense not allowing a Michigan State First down, but the Michigan offense couldn’t punch the ball in. The Wolverines were upset at home 14-10. Michigan fell in the national rankings to #17 while State moved into the rankings at #21. Michigan will take on Indiana next Saturday afternoon.
The Detroit Lions welcomed in the Carolina Panthers a team that came off a big win last week against the New England Patriots. The Lions coming in at 3-1 had a big defense performance the week before against the Minnesota Vikings in the a 14-7 victory. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton threw three touchdowns to carve up that Lions defense to bring another victory to Carolina with a score of 27-24. The Lions couldn’t stop the Panthers passing attack as Cam Newton had big passing plays to his tight-ends and running backs. The Lions couldn’t get the offense rolling until late when Stafford threw a touchdown to Darren Fells. The Lions fall to 3-2 on the season and will play the New Orleans Saints next Sunday in New Orleans.
The Green Bay Packers traveled to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in a NFC showdown. The Packers struggled in the first half with the Cowboys going up 21-6 midway through the second quarter. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers led his team back in the second half and with one minute remaining in the game threw a touchdown pass to bring the Packers a 35-31 victory. The Packers move to 4-1 on the year and are now currently the number one team in the NFC North.
