Kingsford, MI – February 21, 2018 – The Marquette Redmen boys’ basketball team defeated the Kingsford Flivvers 72-58 on Wednesday evening in a game that was broadcast live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1-99.9 and online at foxsportsmarquette.com. The last time these two teams met, Kingsford defeated Marquette 80-63, but the Redmen were able to get their revenge tonight against the Flivvers.
The first quarter was a close one, as both the Redmen and the Flivvers came out quickly. The two teams played toe-to-toe, trading baskets, and after one quarter, Marquette enjoyed a slim 15-14 lead. The second quarter was much the same, a closely-fought battle between two closely-matched teams. At halftime, the score was knotted up at 33 apiece.
The second half saw the Redmen find an edge over the Flivvers, albeit a thin one. Marquette managed to grab a 50-44 going into the final stanza, and at the end of the game, the Marquette Redmen were able to pull off the season split against the Kingsford Flivvers.
Leading the Redmen in scoring was Trey McFerrin, who put up 14 points for Marquette.
