Marquette Redettes defeat Traverse City West 51-27

Traverse City, MI – December 10, 2022 – The Marquette Redettes were able to pick up their first win of the season while on the road, defeating the Traverse City West Titans 51-27.

First Quarter: Siena Lingle won the opening tip to start off Saturday afternoons game against Traverse City West.  Julia Ott scored the first point of the game and for the Redettes with a successful free throw.  Marquette was able to get their offensive efforts going  in the first, going on a 14-0 run. The Redettes held the Titans to 0 points until a minute and a half was left in the first. The titans ended their scoring drought with a made free throw.  After a great first quarter performance by the Marquette Redettes they led the Titans 18-3.

Second quarter: The Marquette Redettes look to keep their efforts going and expand the lead even more .  The Redettes slowed down a little bit but were able to score 9 headed to the halfway point in the second, Marquette led 27-4.  The Titans were able to get some offense going in the second as they try to shrink the lead. Marquette continued to dominate the Titans as they headed to the half, Marquette led 34-15.

Third quarter: The Redettes opened up the second half of the game with a big lead over the titans.  Niether team was able to get anything to go in the first few minutes of the third leaving it scoreless 3 minutes in.  Marquette found the first points of the third putting them ahead 36-15. The Redettes were outscored in the third as they were only able to score 5 points. The score headed into the third was Redettes 39, Titans 21.

Fourth quarter: The Titans look to keep their offensive efforts moving as they try to keep shrinking the Redettes lead over them.  The Redettes were able to put some shots in and expand their lead as they led 47 – 24 halfway through the quarter.  Marquette was able to go on their second big run of the afternoon that was stopped at 10-0.  After slowing down in the third the Redettes found their stride again and ran away with the game in the final quarter.  The Marquette Redettes had an amazing performance in Traverse City Saturday afternoon defeating the titans 51-27.
