Marquette Redettes Basketball Pick Up Win Against Boyne City Ramblers, 43-36

Marquette, MI – December 28, 2022 – The Marquette Redettes (2-5) started game one of a double header with both the boys and girls teams coming to town from Boyne City. The Ramblers and the Redettes took the court first live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 – 99.9!
Boyne City struck first with a quick bucket after winning the tip. MacPhee responded with a easy bucket over a Rambler defender. Meghan MacPhee opened the quarter scoring all of Marquette’s first six points. Boyne City would then look to even things up when Morgan Deming went to the line for free throws. Brooke Logan took the lead back for the Redettes yet again after a deep three pointer. Marquette would take an 11-5 lead as Logan tacked on another bucket as the Redettes were moving fast. Sienna Lingle would get a steal and score as the Redette’s continued to lay it on.

The Ramblers would fire back with Braylyn Rincon nailing a long shot to sway momentum Boyne City’s way. Kyley Elmblad would come off the bench and make an impact immediately defensively. A steal would be fed down to Lingle and finally cashed in for a Marquette bucket. Bella Lorens would hit an 18-footer herself to double up Boyne City on the scoreboard. Julia Ott would close out a busy quarter.
Marquette 22 – Boyne City 10
The Redettes and Ramblers would continue to shoot their shots to start the second quarter. However, no one could hit their mark to open things up. The first minutes of play would be quiet with both teams falling silent after a fast first quarter. It would be the Ramblers to end the scoring drought with a long two from Braydin Noble, but Marquette would answer back with a basket of their own. Noble would cut the Redette lead down to 10 after hitting a shot off the glass.

Redettes In Bound Play
Marquette would quicken the pace when Lingle would feed the ball to Julia Ott then under the bucket to Elmblad who would hit her shot over Deming of the Ramblers. The Redette defense would lead to Redette offense as Sienna Lingle would get another steal and find Brooke Logan for the score. After a series of back and forth Julia Ott would find herself at the free throw line, and split the pair to add on to Marquette’s lead. Boyne City would get the final point of the quarter with Braydin Noble splitting her free throws as well.
Halftime: Marquette 29 – Boyne City 15
Marquette would score first to open the second half of play. Cora Anderson would find Sienna Lingle cutting inside for the score. The Ramblers’ Morgan Deming would power through traffic for a basket and a foul. She would cash in on the free throw and the three point play. Boyne City would stay on the gas as Elly Day would hit a long shot to bring the Ramblers within 10. Day would get five consecutive points with another steal and score for Boyne City.
The Redettes would end the 8-0 run with Elmblad finding the bottom of the net. Sienna Lingle would hit a three to keep the momentum in Marquette’s favor. As both teams continued to go back and forth it was Marquette’s defense that gave them scoring opportunities. Boyne City would close the distance as the quarter expired.
Marquette 36 – Boyne City 29
Boyne City would score first to start the final minutes of play. Brooke Logan would bring the Redette lead back to double digits as The Ramblers start closing in. The Redettes would rely on their speed to try and transition quickly, but the Boyne City defense would keep the shots from falling. The Ramblers would lose the ball with Julia Ott intercepting a pass and taking it all the way for the score. The Ramblers would bring the lead down to seven with a score from Deming. The Redettes would rely on free throws as the final minutes tick down. Sienna Lingle split her shots at the charity stripe as Marquette held on to an eight point lead. Boyne City would continue to foul the Redettes as the game finally comes to a close.
FINAL: Marquette 43 – Boyne City 36
The Marquette Redettes (3-5) are back in action Thursday evening as Charlevoix comes to down for another boys and girls double header! Girls tip off will be at 11:00 AM ET with Luke Ghiardi on the call live from Barb Crill Gymnasium on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 – 99.9!
