- Updated: January 7, 2020

Escanaba, MI – January 7th, 2020 – The Marquette Boys Basketball team took to the road to battle a conference rival, Escanaba. Both teams came out firing in the first. A quick four-point by Marquette lead was erased in the first minute by two quick shots from Escanaba. It was raining three-pointers in the first, the Redmen hit four threes and the Eskymos would one-up the Redmen with five three-pointers of their own. Ty Lotterman was scoring early and often, he finished the first with eight points, six in the paint, two at the line. Marquette led by four after the first, 21-17.

A strange turn around the second quarter as Marquette couldn’t get the lid off the basket. Escanaba used a plethora of scorers to outscore the Redmen, 13-5 in the quarters, Esky up at the half, 30-26. Brandon Frazer led all scorers with 13.
Marquette outscored their second quarter total in the first minute of third, Sager would knock down two, three-point shots and Marquette was back in action starting the quarter on a 8-0 run. Escanaba wouldn’t back down, Brandon Frazer scored a quick five to bring the Eskymos back.
Sager and Frazer would exchange shots and the Redmen lead, 41-40 with 2:13 to go in the third, Sager had five three-pointers at this point in the game, but Esky would grab control at the end of the quarter, 45-43.
In the fourth, both teams would start slow and just how the third quarter felt like the first, the fourth felt like the second. The Eskymos started on a 7-0 run and the Redmen couldn’t drop a basket. Marquette would fine themselves down three and unable to convert on multiple shots, Peyton Fedell would go down the quart and make a three to put Esky up eight. From that point on Marquette tried to play catch-up, but couldn’t get over the hump.
