
Marquette, MI – 7/18/17 – The Tigers signed Jordan Zimmermann over a year ago and since then hasn’t had the best of luck. However, Zimmermann commanded the mound on Monday night throwing 79 of his 97 pitches for strikes while only giving up one run in the Tigers 10-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Tigers third baseman Nicholas Castellanos and outfielder Mikie Mahtook homered for Detroit in the victory. The Tigers are currently on a three game winning streak. Detroit also got good news yesterday as their LHP Daniel Norris will begin his rehab start in Toledo Tuesday night after injuring his groin. Matt Boyd has been recalled from Toledo to make a spot start today against the Royals.
The big news coming out of Detroit on Monday afternoon was the idea of bringing former Detroit Lions reciever Calvin Johnson to training camp. Johnson and the Lions left on bad terms due to retirement and Johnson paying back over one million dollars to the Detroit Lions Organization. Johnson is the Lions all-time leader in receiving yards, catches and receiving touchdowns.
The Ohio State University is under fire after former student and player Chris Spielman decided to sue the university over marketing athletes images without permission. The complaint goes after the Ohio State marketing program and the contracts that promote the university. The lawsuit will be $75,000 dollars in damage.
