Verlander Dominates, Red Wings Shutout and Pistons Are Fighting
- Updated: April 5, 2017
Marquette, MI – The Detroit Tigers season began yesterday in Chicago taking on the White Sox. Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander looked like he was in mid-season form as he struck out 10 batters in 6 1/3 innings on the way to a 6-3 Tigers victory on Tuesday afternoon. Tigers outfielder JaCoby Jones added a three run shot in the second inning followed up by two more homers from third baseman Nick Castellanos and Ian Kinsler. Today the Tigers continue their series with the White Sox at 2:10 pm when Tigers Jordan Zimmermann takes the bump White Sox righty James Shields.
The Detroit Red Wings took a loss last night in Ottawa against the Senators. The Red Wings had won the night before 5-4 in a shootout, but Tuesday was a different story. The Wings peppered Ottawa’s goaltender Craig Anderson but couldn’t score, Anderson led the Sens to a 2-0 victory. The Red Wings will play next on Saturday when they host the Montreal Canadians.
The Detroit Pistons are in win at all coast mode as tonight they welcome in the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors are coming off a loss to the Indiana Pacers and look to rebound against Detroit. The Raptors are already in the playoffs and currently hold the third seed, Detroit is fighting for the last playoff spot with less that five games left.
