Marquette, MI – The North Carolina Tar Heels are National Champions after defeating the Gonzaga Bulldogs 71-65 in Mondays National Championship game in Arizona. The Tar Heels went 33-7 on the season and won the ACC. Last year the Tar Heels were beat on a last second shot in the National Championship to Villanova, this marks the third title for head coach Roy Williams. The Tar Heels finally got over the hump and proved to the world that they are the best team in college basketball.

Red Wings prospect Evgeni Svechnikov made his first professional start and ended it with the game winner in the shootout. Red Wings Thomas Tatar had a goal and an assist while goalie Petr Mrazek stopped 41 shots. The Red Wings snap a three game losing streak and continue to play tonight once again against the Senators in Ottawa.

The Detroit Tigers opening day game in Chicago was postponed due to rain yesterday. The game will be made up today at 2:10. The Tigers will send ace Justin Verlander to the mound to face the White Sox Jose Quintana. The Tigers line-up will stay the same as yesterdays.
