Detroit Tigers Open Season and National Championship

Marquette, MI – The Detroit Tigers begin their season today visiting the Chicago White Sox. The Tigers will send longtime ace to the mound Justin Verlander to take on Jose Quintana at 4:10 PM. The Tigers fell short of making the post-season last year coming in second place in the Central Division. The 25-man Opening Day roster is as follows:
Pitchers: Matthew Boyd, Michael Fulmer, Shane Greene, Daniel Norris, Francisco Rodriguez, Bruce Rondon, Kyle Ryan, Anibal Sanchez, Justin Verlander, Justin Wilson, Alex Wilson and Jordan Zimmerman
Catchers: Alex Avila and James McCann
Infielders: Miguel Cabrera, Nicholas Castellanos, Jose Iglesias, Ian Kinsler, Dixon Machado and Andrew Romine

Gonzaga and North Carolina take on each other tonight in the National Championship game. North Carolina won the ACC regular-season title by two games and knocked off Butler, Kentucky and Oregon. The Gonzaga Bulldogs come in for the first time in school history after failing to do so in the past two decades. They knocked out Xavier and South Carolina to make it to the National Championship. The ball tip-off is tonight at 9:20 pm.
