Marquette, MI – First, it was a big game for the Tigers last night heading into their opening game with the Minnesota Twins. The Tigers came into the game being down 2 games in the wild card race and came out down 1.5 games. Tigers James McCann filled in for DH Victor Martinez, capped an 11 hit attack with a 442 foot blast, homer in the sixth inning to take control of the game. Miguel also added a two run shot in the seventh, the home run was number 442 of Miguel’s career, tying him with Dave Kingman on baseball’s all-time list. The two rbi’s gave Cabrera 1,538 passing Joe Dimaggio for 48th all-time. The Tigers will send Buck Farmer to the hill tonight against Jose Berrios who’s 2-7 with an 8.88 ERA. Game time is at 8:10.

USA Hockey Men’s team was eliminated last night losing to team Canada. USA’s Patrick Kane was on the verge of tears as the final horn sounded in Wednesdays loss. A 4-2 victory eliminated the American from advancing in the World Cup. After mistakes led to two Canadian goals by Matt Duchene and one each from Cory Perry and Petrice Bergeron the game was out of sight. The Canadians move on to the next round in their pursuit of the World Cup.
