
Marquette, MI – 7/26/17 – Whit Merrifield took the first pitch of the game and put the ball over the wall as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-1 for their seventh straight victory. Tiger starting pitcher Michael Fulmer had a solid outing with not much run support to work with going eight innings giving up three runs on eight hits while striking out six. Detroit Tigers call-up from Toledo Mikie Mahtook had another solid day at the place hitting a triple to bring in Detroit’s only run, with his hit Mahtook extended his hit streak to 10 games. Royals Danny Duffy improved his record to 7-6 on the season allowing one run on six hits in 6 1/3 innings.

The Lucky Whitehead story is now over as the police in Virginia reported that it is indeed true that Lucky’s identity had been stolen in the shoplifting case. The Cowboys released Whitehead as a result of the crime and later found out it wasn’t him. The Cowboys, once they found out it wasn’t him, did not go back on the release and kept him off the team due to behavior and his patterns of run-ins with the law.
