Sands Speedway will be rockin’ this weekend as it is set to host the Northern Michigan Triple Crown. The Triple Crown will feature drivers from all over the Upper Peninsula. The Kinross Speedpark and Sands Speedway have put together a U.P. Challenge together between two stock car racing facilities. This event will showcase the talent of Kinross, Sands and the Norway Speedway. On Saturday July 29th, Sands will have the time trials at 3 pm and races will begin at 5 pm. This morning we had longtime driver of the number 64 car Stan Wittler talking about this weekends activities and the history of the track. Track Promoter Kim LeTourneau also stopped by and gave us all the information we needed to know about the upcoming events. Great Lakes Radio and Fox Sports Marquette thanks Stan and Kim for stopping in and bringing us up to date on Sands Speedway.

CTE is a brain disease that has affected many current and former football players. Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy has been found in 99% of deceased NFL players brains. The brain disease can be found in individuals who have been exposed to repeated head trauma. What is the future of football? Will it last? Will it become more safe? We can only hope that issues like this can be prevented.
