
Marquette, MI – The Detroit Red Wings were at home last night and fell to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Blue Jackets Seth Jones took a drop pass from Brandon Dubinsky and blasted a high slap shot over the shoulder of Red Wings Goalie Petr Mrazek 3:22 minutes into overtime and beat the Red Wings 3-2. The Red Wings gained a point in the contest, Nick Jensen and Thomas Vanek added goals for Detroit. Columbus net minder Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 24 shots in the Columbus victory. The Red Wings now hit the road where they will face the Washington Capitals on Thursday night in our nations capitol.
The Detroit Pistons will be at home tonight at the Palace of Auburn Hills taking on a team who is in shambles, the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers come into the game at 18-36 on the season and are changing up their line-up daily. The Pistons are coming off of a win over Philadelphia on Monday and look ti improve their playoff chances tonight when tip-off begins at 7:30 pm.
Northern Michigan University Head Hockey Coach Walt Kyle stopped in today to talk about his team and the second half of the season. The Wildcats are 5-1-2 in their past 8 games and goalie Atte Tolvanaen is currently on a three game shutout streak. The Wildcats will be at home this weekend when they take on Alaska-Fairbanks.
