Pistons Dominate, Red Wings Back In Action and Redettes Basketball

Marquette, MI – The Detroit Pistons moved into the eighth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference ahead of the Charlotte Hornets with a big win over the Philadelphia 76ers. The Pistons got the win at home 113-96 with Pistons center Andre Drummond adding 16 points and 17 rebounds. Nine players for Detroit were in double figures. The 76ers were led by big man Jahlil Okafor who had 16 points on the night. The Pistons will continue their home-stand on Wednesday when they take on the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Detroit Red Wings are coming off of a 1-0 victory over the Nashville Predators on Saturday. The Red Wings are five points out of the playoff picture in the Atlantic Division. The Wings will be at home tonight taking on one of the hottest teams in the NHL, the Columbus Blue Jackets. Columbus comes into the game wounded as they were defeated by the New Jersey Devils on Saturday 5-1, Columbus is 33-13-5 on the season. Game time tonight at Joe Louis Arena will be at 7:30 pm.
The Marquette Redettes basketball team traveled to Houghton last night to take on the Gremlins. The Redettes and Gremlins are considered to be the top two girls basketball teams in the upper peninsula. The Redettes fell to the Gremlins in double over-time 46-40. Amber Huebner led the way for Marquette adding 18 points and countless rebounds. The Gremlins were led by Kara Pitela who added 22 points. The Redettes are now 14-2 on the season while Houghton is 16-0.
