Marquette, MI – The Red Wings returned home last night to take on the St.Louis Blues. The main story though, was the pregame ceremony for the Red Wings and Tigers late owner Mike Ilitch. The Red Wings wore “Mr.I” patches on their uniforms in remembrance of their historic owner. The Red Wings have had a tough season as they’re in last place in the Atlantic Division, the game seemed like an after thought as the Wings were shutout 2-0. Blues goalie Carter Hutton made 25 saves and the Blues came out with their sixth victory in seven games. The Red Wings will now move on to Saturday as they get set to host the Washington Capitals.
The Detroit Pistons got a big win last night at the Palace as they defeated the Dallas Mavericks 98-91. The Pistons were led by Reggie Jackson who dropped 22 points followed by Jon Leuer with 20. The victory notched Detroit’s first season sweep of the Mavericks since the 1997-98 season. The Pistons now go into the All-Star break and will not return to play until February 23rd when they host the Charlotte Hornets.
Norther Michigan Wildcats Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams are both on the road tonight taking on the Ferris State Bulldogs. On the men’s side the Wildcats look to finish their season strong, it will be tough going up against Ferris State who are 21-4 on the season and number one in the GLIAC. The women’s are also looking to finish strong before they head to playoff contention, the Bulldogs are 5-19 on the season. The women play at 6 pm and the men at 8 pm.
