Marquette, MI – Marquette Senior High School had a big night in athletics on Thursday. The Marquette Redettes basketball team welcomed in the Houghton Gremlins a team in which the Redettes lost to earlier this month 46-40 in double overtime. The Gremlins were the top team in the Upper Peninsula with a record of 18-0. The Redettes came out hot and squeaked out a victory at home to defeat the Gremlins 43-40. The Redettes move to 16-2 on the season and with the loss the Gremlins fall to 18-1. The Redettes look to avenge their other loss earlier in the year to Negaunee, who they face next week.
The Marquette Redmen Hockey team got a huge victory last night in the Copper Country as they took on the Houghton Gremlins at D stadium. The Redmen came into the game with a 2-3-1 record over the past 6 games and needed a victory, they got just that. The Redmen defeated the Houghton Gremlins earlier in the season at the Lakeview arena 4-3 in overtime. An extra session was not needed this time as the Redmen skated to a 2-1 victory. The playoffs are fast approaching and the Redmen could be getting hot at the right time of the season. Next on the agenda will be the Negaunee Miners next Tuesday at the Lakeview Arena.
The Marquette Redmen Basketball team got a huge victory last night as they took down the Negaunee Miners in overtime 64-60. The Redmen defeated the Miners earlier in the season in a game that also ended by a four point margin. The Redmen now hold a record of 15-1 and look to get another victory this Saturday when they take on the Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils.
