NBA Shines, Red Wings On A Roll And NMU Hockey

John Thomsen and Ryan Ranguette

Marquette, MI – The NBA has been nothing short of entertaining the past three weeks. Many of the entertainment has come off the court rather than on it, that wasn’t the case on Sunday night. The East All-Stars took on the West All-Stars in New Orleans. Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans dropped 52 points in the game smashing the all-time record held by Wilt Chamberlain. Oklahoma City Thunder Russell Westbrook and Golden State Warrior Kevin Durant provided a glimpse of the past. The Western Conference came out on top defeating the Eastern Conference 192-182. Pelican Anthony Davis was named MVP.

The Detroit Red Wings got a pair of huge victories over the weekend beating the Washington Capitals on Saturday and then playing the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday winning 5-2. The Red Wings have 23 games left in the regular season, with seven points behind the last playoff spot, the Wings look to gain ground come Tuesday when they take on the New York Islanders.

The Northern Michigan Wildcat hockey team traveled to Minnesota State over the weekend losing both Friday and Saturday. The Wildcats are now 11-19-4 on the season and are looking to pick up ground in the playoff race with a big home and home series with Michigan Tech this coming weekend.
