
Marquette, MI – The Detroit Red Wings are getting prepared for a bye week, but before that bye week begins, they will face-off against a team they have beaten twice this year, the New York Islanders. The Red Wings are riding a high coming off of two wins over two top NHL teams in the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Islanders have had a tough time this year on the road with a record of 7-13-4 and coming off their most recent loss 6-4 against the Devils in New Jersey. The puck will drop at 7:30 pm at the historic Joe Louis Arena.
Slap Shot the movie is celebrating it’s 40th year anniversary as an iconic sports movie. The main characters come from Marquette and played for the then Iron Rangers, Steve Carlson, Jeff Carlson and Dave Hanson. Many consider the movie as one of the greatest sports films of all time. The celebration will take place in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on February 25th.
The Sacramento Kings of the NBA are being heavily criticized for the trade involving DeMarcus Cousins. The Kings traded Cousins during All-Star weekend to the New Orleans Pelicans for Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans and Langston Galloway. Many writers and reporters are calling it one of the worst trades in NBA history. The Kings were offered a better deal from another team but it fell through in the middle of negotiations. All we can do is speculate, was it a good or a bad move?
