Pistons Honor Rip, NMU Hockey and Redettes Basketball

Marquette, MI – The Detroit Pistons honored former mid-range master Richard “Rip” Hamilton on Sunday night as the Pistons welcomed in the Boston Celtics. Celtic point guard Isaiah Thomas led the Celtics with 33 points en route to a 104-98 victory. The Pistons were led by center Andre Drummond who has 17 points to go along with 15 rebounds. The Pistons rallied from a 15 point deficit to take the lead in the fourth quarter 96-95 with minutes left only to lose it in the final minute on the shot from Jaylen Brown. The Pistons now look to Tuesday when they take on the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Northern Michigan Wildcats are officially headed to the playoffs with a 5-3 victory over Michigan Tech on Saturday night. Senior captain Shane Sooth led the way for the cats adding the game winner, NMU goalie Atte Tolvanen stopped 38 shots and the Wildcats are playoff bound. The Wildcats will open up with Bemidji State March 3-5. The Wildcats have been riding a strong second half going 8-4-2 in that span and look to continure their ways later this week.

The Marquette Redettes basketball team will head down to Gaylord today as they get set for District play. The Redettes are coming off a big win over the Menominee Maroons and are 17-3 on the season.
