Marquette, MI – Northern Michigan University President Fritz Erickson is the reason for the impressive improvements to the University. As of late Northern has added a head football coach and hockey coach. Many new programs have been added to Northern’s curriculum further advancing opportunity’s for students. We would like to thank President Erickson for stopping in this morning and updating us on Northern.

Miguel Cabrera returned last night to the Tigers lineup and didn’t disappoint. Cabrera was activated after going on the disabled list for 10 days after straining his right groin. In his return Cabrera hit a home run putting him ahead of Vladimir Gurrerro with 450 homers. Justin Verlander was solid all night for the Tigers allowing two runs and striking out 5 in seven innings. The Tigers continue their series with the Indians today at 7:10 pm when Matt Boyd toes the rubber for the Tigers facing Carlos Carrasco.

The NBA and NHL playoffs have been in full swing in the second rounds. Last night in the NHL The Rangers beat the Ottawa Senators 4-1 while the Nashville Predators beat the St.Louis Blues 2-1. The NBA had a great night as well with the Boston Celtics beating the Washington Wizards 129-119 in overtime. The Golden State Warriors rolled past the Utah Jazz 106-94.
