Luke Ghiardi, John Thomsen and Ryan Ranguette

Marquette, MI – 10/18/17 – The Marquette Redmen Hockey Team will bring back a familiar face to call their hockey games this year, John Thomsen. Thomsen has been calling hockey games in Marquette for over 20 years. He along with color man Joe Gaffney will call this season games for Great Lakes Radio. John enjoys calling games and going on the road with the team. He is a dear friend of Marquette Senior High School Hockey Head Coach Doug Garrow. Thomsen believes this team has all the fix-in’s to make a run at a state title this year.

Negaunee Football Broadcaster Mark Evans stopped by as well to talk about the Negaunee Miners season and recapped the game against Marquette last Friday. The Miners started off 0-3 and cruised to four straight victory’s. The loss to Marquette put them at 4-4 on the year, playoff hopes still alive as they take on 7-1 Westwood this Friday night.

The NBA Regular Season began last night with the Cleveland Cavilers and the Boston Celtics. The story of the game was Boston Celtic newly signed free agent Gordon Hayward. Hayward signed a 124 million dollar contract and in the first quarter, went up for an ally-oop and came down with a broken ankle, a gruesome sight. The Cavilers won the game 102-99, Hayward fractured his tibia and his status for missing games is still unknown.
