Jets Fly High, Wolverines Lose To Ducks and Marquette Mutineer Hockey
- Updated: March 24, 2017
Marquette, MI – The story of the High School Basketball year is by far the Powers North Central Jets. Jets Senior guard Seth Polfus hit the biggest shot of his life as the time expired in a thrilling 84-83 victory over Southfield Christian in Thursday’s Class D semifinal at the Breslin Center. The Jets extended their nation long winning streak to 82 games and are now headed to the State Championship against undefeated Buckley. Jets Jason Whitens had 31 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Jets. The Jets are two time defending state champs and look to complete a three peat on Saturday at 10 am.
The Michigan Wolverines fell to the Oregon Ducks on Thursday night 69-68. The Ducks will move on to the Elite Eight for the second straight year. The Wolverines were led by Senior Derrick Walton Jr. who had 20 points followed by Zak Irvin with 19. The Ducks were led by Tyler Dorsey and Jordan Bell, each recording double-doubles. Oregon will move on to play the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday.
Marquette Mutineers Captain Joey Enright stopped in this morning to bring us up to date on the Mutineers season. The Mutineers are on a two game win streak defeating the Monroe Blues and Fond Du Lac Bears last weekend. This weekend they will be taking on the Mosinee Papermakers at the Berry Events Center, both games will start at 7:00 pm. This will be the last two regular season games before the playoffs next week. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at Great Lakes Radio in Marquette. We would like to thank Joey for stopping in and talking Mutineer hockey.
