Marquette, MI – 7/24/17 – The Detroit Tigers rode the arm of Matthew Boyd on Sunday as the Tigers cruised to a 9-6 victory over Central Division opponent the Minnesota Twins. Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias had a big day at the plate connecting with three hits and one for a homer that ended up in the upper deck. Matthew Boyd won his second consecutive start, striking out a career high eight in six innings of work allowing three runs on four hits. Tigers closer Justin Wilson came in the ninth and shut the door for his 12th save in 14 chances. The Tigers now move to a series with the Kansas City Royals. Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander will trot out to the mound tonight to take on the Royals big righty Jason Hammel who carries a 3-2 record with a 3.56 ERA.

The Cleveland Cavilers are in turmoil as starting point guard Kyrie Irving has been mentioned in trade talks. Irving has been an NBA all-star four times the past five seasons and last year averaged 25.2 points per game. The Cavilers are looking to make a move for Irving since he doesn’t want to stay in Cleveland and be the second man on the totem pole to Lebron James.
