Marquette, MI – June 26 – Round 1 of the National Basketball Association (NBA) 2025 draft is officially in the books. In a draft led by Cooper Flagg, who did get to hear his name first by the Dallas Mavericks. During his interview following his selection, he shared a story about how he had never beaten his mom in a basketball game. The last time they played, Cooper was ahead with a score of 7-6. Before Cooper’s mom tore her meniscus. Cooper’s mom replied, saying she considers it a win because they never finished.
Another highlight of the night was when Dylan Harper was picked second by the San Antonio Spurs, and Ace Bailey was selected fifth by the Utah Jazz. The dynamic duo became the highest draft picks in Rutgers history.
