Marquette, MI – June 25 – The National Basketball Association’s (NBA) 2025 season was completed this past Sunday. If you would like more information about the NBA Finals, check out yesterday’s article.
The Barclays Center will host the 2025 NBA Draft, which will be streamed on ABC and ESPN. The pre-show begins at 5:00 PM, and the first pick will be made at 8:00 PM.
This year’s draft is headlined by Duke’s Cooper Flagg. In Flagg’s one year in college, he averaged 19.2 points per game, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists. He also led the Duke Blue Devils into the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Division I basketball tournament as the number one overall seed. Duke would reach the final four before being eliminated by the Houston Cougars.
On May 12, 2025, the NBA held its annual draft lottery with the Dallas Mavericks winning the rights to the first overall pick. The San Antonio Spurs narrowly missed winning the lottery, acquiring the second pick. In 2023, they selected Victor Wembanyama with the first pick.
Many young superstars will accomplish their dreams tonight when they get drafted by an NBA team. Some may have to wait until the second round like Nikola Jokic in 2015, when the Denver Nuggets found their franchise player at pick 41.
