Ishpeming’s Jenessa Eagle Staying Local

Marquette, MI – June 27, 2025 – Jenessa Eagle, the all-time leading scorer for girl’s basketball in Ishpeming, announced on social media that she will continue her athletic career at Michigan Tech University.

Eagle will begin her senior season at Ishpeming in the upcoming school year. In 2024, the Ishpeming Hematites won the Girls’ State Championship in Division 4. Eagle, who was a sophomore at the time, played a significant role in the success of the Hematites. In the State Championship, Eagle scored a game-high twenty-seven points after finishing the first half with only two points.

Eagle, who has already set the all-time points record for girls, is now focusing on breaking the all-time school record currently held by Caden Luoma, who is committed to Gogebic Community College. Both Eagle and Luoma scored their one-thousandth point last season in games against Gwinn.

Eagle will join several familiar rivals from her time at Ishpeming. Among them are Ella Mason, who just finished her first season at Michigan Technological University, and Aubrey Johnson, whom Eagle faced this past season. Additionally, she will be playing alongside Hancock’s Kaisa Salani, who will be a sophomore next year.
