Marquette, MI  –  February 15, 2018  –  We were joined by our local college hockey team today, the Northern Michigan University Wildcats! The team participated in an intrasquad hockey game out at Lions Field to help promote the Ice Under Cover project – a plan to erect a roof over Lions Field Ice Rink.

Ryan Ranguette and Mike Plourde were live from Lions Field in Marquette Township for the game. The guys gave a play-by-play broadcast of the game on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9. With the Wildcats split up into Grey vs Yellow, the intrasquad scrimmage was fast paced. They played two competitive 15 minute long periods. While the guys were having a great time out there, they also took it seriously keeping the score close and tied multiple times during the game.

In the end the Yellow Team came away with the win for the day. The guys had a lot of fun playing an outdoor game for the community. Listen to the full broadcast below to hear from WCHA Defensive Player of the Week, Philip Beaulieu and Marquette Township’s Randy Girard.

If you would like to make a donation to the Ice Under Cover project, visit the Marquette Township Hall on Commerce Drive. The next Ice Under Cover fundraiser will be a boot hockey tournament on March 24th. Form a team and play in the tournament to help raise money for the roof project. Find out more about the event when you sign up at the Marquette Township Hall.
