
As the second inning began, it was a 3 up and 3 down top for the Eskymos, but Marquette was able to put the first run of the game onto the scoreboard. As the rain dwindled, the play began to slow down, and in the top of the third, Escanaba had one hit, but they were unable to score.
The rain eventually moved out of the area, and as the sky cleared, Marquette continued to hold a narrow lead of only one run. The Redmen looked to split the double header, but they would have a difficult time dealing with the strong Escanaba bats.
When the top of the sixth inning came around, the Escanaba Eskymos were able to add three runs to their score after the Redmen gave up a bases-loaded double, giving them a 1-3 lead.
