Marquette, Michigan – December 13th, 2016 – The Marquette Redettes went into Tuesday’s game averaging 51 points per game. The Negaunee Miners came in with a BIG win over Marquette. Negaunee had the lead to start off the game 2-0 over the Redettes. With 4 minutes left the Miners had the advantage with a 5 point lead over the Redettes, 6-1. The Redettes’ basketball was underneath Negaunee’s basket with a score of 7-6, the Redettes now in the lead. Both teams eventually tied up 8-8 with 2 minutes in the first quarter. The Redettes turned the game around and had a 2 point advantage to end the first quarter, 10-8 over the Miners.
Clara Johnson inbound the ball in the second quarter for the Negaunee Miners. The Miners lead the Redettes 16-14 before Negaunee called a time-out. The Redettes tried to make a strong comeback during the second quarter and with the help of Amber Huebner ended up tieing the game 20-20 going into the Pomp’s Tire halftime show.
The leading scorer for the Marquette Redettes was Amber Huebner. Keys to the second half was “open looks going for open shots.” The Redettes started off strong in the second half with a lead of 24-22 over the Negaunee Miners on 97.5 GTO. Abby Nelson went to the line shooting 2; the Miners in the lead 27-24 over the Marquette Redettes. The Miners in the lead at the end of the third quarter over the Redettes, 34-29.
Kelsey Grange had 5 points on the night. The Negaunee Miners in the lead 37-24 in the fourth quarter from Marquette Senior High School. Ellie Hicks checked into the game with 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter. 39-34 was your score with the Miners in the lead over the Redettes. The Redettes defense just couldn’t overturn the Miners and they fall to the Negaunee Miners, 48-38.
