Marquette, MI – December 18th, 2025 – Marquette looked to continue its momentum from last weekend’s series against Lake Orion, in which they outscored their opponent 17–0 over two games. The Sentinels began the weekend on the road with a trip to the Igloo in Escanaba, facing an Eskymos team that entered the contest riding a four-game winning streak and considered one of the hottest teams in the U.P.
Escanaba struck first when Gunner LaMarche scored from Chase Korpi to make it 1–0. Ben Sands followed with a chip shot glove side off the pipe and in at 6:51, assisted by Parker Menard, giving the Eskymos a 2–0 lead. Marquette responded on the power play as Brody Lemire scored from Seth Sandstrom at 1:32 to cut the deficit to 2–1. Just over a minute later, Brody Sheldon tipped in a power-play goal at 1:01 to tie the game 2–2. Marquette held a 12–11 shots-on-goal advantage at the end of the first period and a 12–10 edge in the second, though no goals were scored in the middle frame.
In the third period, Jack Pond scored on the power play with an assist from Brody Shelton to give Marquette a 3–2 lead, marking the Sentinels’ third power-play goal of the night. Skyler Blackburn then made it 4–2 on a 2-on-1 goal assisted by Trey Savola, and Marquette later sealed the win with an empty-net goal to secure a 5–2 final score.
The Sentinels will return to action tomorrow night when they head home to Lakeview Arena to host Saginaw Heritage at 7:00. If you can’t make it, we’ll have it for you right here on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 or 99.9.
