Marquette, MI – December 19th, 2025 – Marquette hosted Saginaw Heritage on Friday night looking to build on the momentum from a 5–2 road win at Escanaba the night before. The Sentinels were also aiming to remain unbeaten for a second straight weekend after outscoring Lake Orion 17–0 in two games the previous weekend, and they did just that with a dominant performance.
Marquette jumped out to a quick lead as Brody Sheldon opened the scoring just 1:10 into the game, assisted by Jack Pond. Parker Nevenhoven followed soon after to make it 2–0, and Seth Sandstrom extended the lead with a power-play goal, with Sheldon picking up the assist. Sheldon then struck again, finishing a play set up by Sandstrom and Pond to give Marquette a commanding 4–0 lead at the end of the first period.
Saginaw Heritage got on the board early in the second period with a shorthanded goal by Ethan Ash during a Marquette power play, but the Sentinels quickly regained control. Jack Pond scored on a 5-on-3 power play to make it 5–1, and Jacob Spagnuolo added another at the 4:43 mark. Brody Sheldon completed his hat trick midway through the period, collecting a loose puck and scoring with help from Sandstrom to push the lead to 7–1 heading into the second intermission.
Marquette continued to pour it on in the third period as Ethan Jensen made it 8–1, and Cooper Andresen closed out the scoring at 9:42, triggering the mercy rule and ending the game at 9–1 in favor of the Sentinels.
The Sentinels will be back on the ice Tuesday night at 7:00 as they travel to Kingsford, putting their four-game winning streak on the line. If you can’t make it to the rink, you can catch all the action live on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 or 99.9, with Joe Gaffney and Larry Kerry on the call.
