Sault Ste. Marie, MI – December 5, 2025 — The Marquette High School Hockey Sentinels hit the Olympic rink at Big Bear Ice Arena tonight, ready to shake off last week’s tie against Calumet and make a statement as they face off against the Sault Ste. Marie Blue Devils!
From the opening faceoff, Marquette came out flying. The first period was all Sentinels, shift after shift of pressure, close calls, and near-misses. Skylar Blackburn nearly buried one early, threading through defenders but just missing the net by inches. By the end of the period, Marquette had done everything but score, with the Blue Devils’ goalie refusing to give up a single rebound.
1st Period: Marquette 0 – 0 Sault Ste. Marie
The Sentinels struck first, finally breaking through the Blue Devils’ wall and cracking open the scoring. And once they did? They never looked back. Marquette lit the lamp three times in the second period, completely taking control of the game. This is especially huge considering the Sentinels haven’t put up more than two goals on an Olympic-size sheet in years. Tonight? They made it look easy.
2nd Period: Marquette 3 – 0 Sault Ste. Marie
Less than a minute into the third, Marquette buried another one, making it crystal clear they were here to win. From there, the Sentinels shut it down, keeping Sault Ste. Marie from getting anything meaningful toward the net and wrapping the night with a confidence-boosting victory.
FINAL: Marquette 4 – 0 Sault Ste. Marie
