Marquette, MI – December 12, 2025 — After a tough loss to the Byron Center Bulldogs last week, Marquette High School Hockey came home with something to prove. The Sentinels hit the ice at Lakeview Arena ready to reset, refocus, and make a statement against the Lake Orion Dragons, and that’s exactly what they did. Joe Gaffaney and Coach Larry Carey delivered all the action live from the rink on Fox Sports Marquette 105.1 & 99.9!
First Period:
The Sentinels wasted no time getting things started. Evan Mandala buried the very first shot on goal, putting Marquette on the board immediately and setting the tone for the night. Moments later, Seth Sandstrom and Brody Sheldon capitalized on a rebound play, doubling the lead. Marquette kept the pressure on, firing shot after shot at Lake Orion goalie Harrison. While he made several quick saves, the relentless offensive push paid off once again, and the Sentinels closed the period with a commanding three-goal lead.
Score: Marquette 3 – 0 Lake Orion
Second Period:
Marquette High School Hockey stayed aggressive coming out of the locker room. Mandala struck again, burying another puck with an assist from Tulawits. The Dragons struggled to clear their zone as Marquette continued to dominate puck possession and pace of play. Despite Harrison’s efforts in net, Marquette found the back of the net once more, stretching the lead even further by the end of the period.
Score: Marquette 5 – 0 Lake Orion
Third Period:
The Sentinels showed no signs of slowing down. Early in the period, Trey Savila set up a beautiful play to Sandstrom, and shortly after, another Marquette skater forced a tough play behind the net, capitalizing on a miscue to add yet another goal. The night was sealed in dramatic fashion when Jamison Sandstrom caught the goalie off guard with an absolute rocket to the high net, triggering the mercy rule and capping off a dominant performance.
FINAL: Marquette 8 – 0 Lake Orion
