Marquette, MI – September 9th, 2025 – This past week, Michigan Tech secured a commitment from local basketball star, Ethan Marta, who is entering his senior season at Westwood High School. Marta is a 6’3″, 180-pound guard who averaged 27 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and 3.2 assists per game during his junior season. He guided his team to the Breslin Center, reaching the semi-finals.
During his junior season, Marta achieved several significant milestones. He became a thousand-point scorer and set the Westwood all-time scoring record. He received numerous accolades, including being named the West Pac co-player of the year in 2025, an honor he shared with Oskar Kangas. He was chosen for the U.P. Dream Team and played a crucial role in his team’s success as the Division Three Team of the Year. Over the summer, Marta attended the HB Elite Top 40 camp, where he earned the 10th spot due to his impressive performance.
The Huskies have experienced recent success in their basketball program, and will have to wait another season before Marta joins them. If you haven’t seen Ethan Marta play in person, you won’t be disappointed; last season, he had multiple games where he scored over 30 points.
