The first quarter saw a slow start for both teams. It took almost two minutes before the first basket would fall. Gladstone got on the board first and built a 4-0 lead. Marquette’s Maria Millado would knock down a couple of free-throws to start a run for the Redettes. Maddie Carter would a hit a three-pointer from the corner to give the Redettes their first lead 7-6, from there, Marquette took off. Millado would hit two more free throws before the end of the quarter, going four-for-four from the line. Marqutte lead 11-8 going into the second.

The Redettes stay hot to start the second quarter. A foul at the start of the quarter put the Redettes on the line, they continued to hit their shots to extended the lead to five. Millado found the basket again shortly after and a three-point-play from Clarissa Remillard blew the game open 20-8. The Braves wouldn’t back down as they went on a 7-0 run to bring the Marquette lead down to five, this was after being held scoreless the first 4:22 of the quarter. Alaina Trudeau dropped in five during the run and Andie Balenger chipped in two. The Braves run was flipped around as the Redettes went on a 6-2 run to finish the half strong, Marquette took a 26-17 into the break. Millado lead the Redettes with eight and Remillard had five at the half, all five in the second frame.
The thrid quarter didn’t go Marquette’s way, the Braves capitalized quickly. The Redettes were outscored 11-4 in third, Millado had all four for the Redettes. Gladstone’s Maddie Ahlgren drained a three at the buzzer to make it a two-point game heading into the fourth.
The fourth was a battle until the final buzzer. Ahlgren hit a three on the first possession of the quarter the give Gladstone their first lead of the night. Millado would go right down the court to hit a three of her own to retake the lead, 33-31. A Gladstone free throw and jump shot gave them a slight edge 34-33 with five minutes to go. After exchanging a few more baskets, Marquette found themselves with a five point lead with one minute to go. A quick layup from Gladstone cut it to three, Marquette couldn’t get it past half court and was hit with a 10 second call, giving the Braves the ball back. Gladstone would turn the ball over on the inbound and foul Marquette immediately. Millado would make both of her shots at the line to extend the lead to five with 15 seconds left. Marquette ran a tricky play off the Gladstone inbound, the Redettes let the Braves take it to the basket and score after playing about five seconds of defense, with no timeouts left for the Braves, Marquette let the the ball sit on the floor and let the clock run out. The Redettes won 42-39.
