Marquette,MI – December 14, 2022 – Marquette and Negaunee go to battle live on Foxsports 105.1-99.9!
Q1:Negaunee would start the game winning the tip but would miss their first shot attempt. Marquette dominating the boards as the Redmen are scoring off second chance points in the start of the game. Negaunee misses another shot and Marquette would score in transition. Jack Quinnell would set his feet and take a charge for the Redmen and score right after. Kyler Sager would get the rebound and go coast to coast for the Redmen. Quinnell would get the ball in the post and would make an easy shot. Gavin Downey would go to the line after getting foul on a 3 point attempt. Downey would go 2 for 3 from the line. Negaunee would get the steal and Downey would get easy points in transition. Jan van den Ende would get the easy steal for the Redmen and would score easily. Jacob Macphee would get his own rebound twice and would get and-1 and would make the free throw. Gavin Saunders would shot a quick 3 for Negaunee but would miss off the in bound. Saunders would come back up the court and make it his second attempt. Negaunee would steal the ball off of the Redmen’s in bound play and would score in transition.

Q2:Marquette would start the quarter with the ball but would be called for a foul immediately. Jaxon Jurmu would get fouled and would go to the line but would miss both free throws. Saunders would get the offense going for the Miners to start the quarter. Saunders would go to the line and would 1 for 2 from the line. Logan Peterson would get fouled cutting in and would go 1 for 2 from the line for the Redmen. Downey would then head to line and would go 1 for 2 from the line. Marquette would get the ball at half court and Macphee would hit a three at the top of the key. Quinnell would hit a 3 for the Redmen off the rebound for the Redmen. Peterson would push the court off a rebound and would find Macphee in transition. Machpee would score again off another rebound. Sager would get called for an over the back after Bodhi White miss. Downey would go to the line and would go 2 for 2 from the line. The ball would get turnover back and forth but Marquette would finally get the ball but would miss. Saunders would hit a 3 for the Miners. Negaunee would hold onto the ball for the last shot of the half.

Jurmu gets his first points of night after drive in the paint. Mason Sager would hit a big 3 to tie the game for the Miners. Saunders would come back for Neguanee and drain another 3. Negaunee would get another steal and would take a 5-point lead their biggest lead of the game. Mason Sager would go to the line for the Miners and would go 2 for 2 from the line. Jurmu would drive into the lane and would pass it for an easy score. The Redmen would get a big block on defense and would get fouled down the court on the shot. Peterson would make both free throws for Marquette. Downey would go down the court for the Miners and drive past a Redmen defender with ease. Sager hits a big 3 for Marquette as he ties it back up. The Miners would answer right back with a big 3. Peterson would get the rebound and an and-1 and would make the free throw. A 5 second violation for Marquette would end the 3rd quarter

Q4: Quinnell would start the quarter with getting fouled on the shot and would go 1 for 2 for the Redmen. Quinnell would start off hot for Marquette to start the 4th as he would make another jumper. Marquette would take the lead back. Saunders would score and give the Miners the lead back immediately. Jurmu gets fouled and would go 2 for 2 from the line. Mason Sager would get down the court and drain a 3 for the Miners. A jump ball goes for Marquette but would miss the shot off the in bound. Marquette would get the ball and Quinnell would score off the in bound. Quinnell would tie the game with his next shot. Mason Sager with a big chase down block for the Miners. A missed shot from Marquette gives the Miners the ball back. Jurmu would get the ball back for the Redmen and would drive to get and-1, he would make the free throw. Marquette would get the steal and Jurmu would get another basket back to back. Negaunee would call a timeout and the Miners would score right out of the timeout. Marquette would call a timeout right when they get to half court. Negaunee would foul off the inbound and would put Marquette in double bonus. Macphee would miss both free throws. Quinnell would get fouled and would make both free throws. Negaunee would dribble the clock out.
