Gwinn, MI  –  August 22, 2015  – The Meet the Modeltowners event started the 2015 Gwinn school year off with a bang last night. The community gathered at the high school to show their support for their local high school teams.

Gwinn pride was strong on the school grounds as community members sported their Black and Gold. Facepainters drew dozens of Modeltowner logos on fans of all ages, while snow cones and hot dogs were handed out for FREE at the Modeltowners Consession stand! Cheerleaders fired up the crowd as JV and Varsity Football teams practiced on the big field while younger kids played their own game off to the side.

The Gwinn community really came together to cheer on their most important asset, their youth. Athletic Director Rob Soyring got on the microphone to usher visitors to the stands, keeping the night rolling. Before getting into the main focus the night, Soyring talked about the kindness and generosity of the community. Local Sponsors raised over $28,000 for the All Sports Booster Club!

As the booster club was presented with the very large check, Athletic Director Soyring introduced each fall sport team to the crowds ending with Gwinn’s MHSAA Class C district Champion varsity volleyball squad.

Rob Soyring went on to introduce each team member by name. Kids raised a hand or took a bow as their name was called and the crowd went wild. The energy in the stands was outstanding as fans, both young and old, cheered on their athletic Modeltowner youth.

As the event drew to an end, Rob Soyring gave a heart warming speech. He spoke about how soon life changes, discussions would be had, choices made, and that goodbyes may need to be said to old friends.

As fireworks blasted into the night sky and “oohs” and “aahs” floated through the air, it was clear that the Gwinn Modeltowners are a lucky group of kids – their entire community stands with them, ready to help at a moment’s notice.
