GHS loses in overtime to West Iron County 20 – 14
- Updated: October 23, 2020
Gwinn, Michigan 10/16/2020
It was Senior Night at McCormick Field tonight. It was also the only home football game of the season. GHS took on the West Iron County Wykons. Jess D and myself were had the honor of interviewing the seniors before the game. We asked them a bunch of questions, but we asked, “Who are you playing for tonight,” to each player. Their answer’s, “My boys, Coach Brown, My family.”
It was a battle from the start. Gwinn maintained possession of the ball for more than 10 minutes in the first quarter. It was a huge pass on 3rd down to Jansci to keep the drive going. Then, a screen pass to Hill. Finally, a 3 yard touchdown run by Love. It took a team effort. And the Gwinn seniors were proving their word.
Love scored again tieing the game at 14 a piece. Gwinn opted for the ball first. They attempted a field goal, but came up just short. The Wykons were able to hit the outside edge and take the victory. On the GHS side of the ball, Love and Hill combined for a total of 151 yards rushing. Defensively, GHS was led by #3 Carl Peterson with 8 solo tackles.
Gwinn travels to Gogebic for a Saturday afternoon game on 10/24/20. Be sure to check the live stream at foxsportsmarquette.com.
